The reviewers do everything but leap through the screen with rageful hisses and stick nails in her eyes. And my other encounter with a sort-of Jane sequel (Sanditon, finished off by Another Lady) wasn't the happiest experience of my life. In future Miss Austen may wish to collaborate with another Another Lady. No candidates coming to mind, though.Umbagollahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14556344092820711893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424364424049242300.post-38537407140786877562011-02-28T19:59:42.979+11:002011-02-28T19:59:42.979+11:00Yes, Barbara Ker Wilson ... Probably wouldn't have read this if it hadn't been given to me BUT as it's not a sequel like the Tennant stuff I decided to read it when it came my way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424364424049242300.post-33776921420357778262011-02-20T04:51:39.108+11:002011-02-20T04:51:39.108+11:00No, but I'm looking it up. She's a prolific researcher, writer, speaker and travel guide on things Austen (not to mention the Brontes and Mansfield too).

Have you read the novel, Jane Austen in Australia which supposes that her aunt was in fact transported to Australia and Jane came along for the ride. Not a great novel, by any definition, but more entertaining than I expected.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424364424049242300.post-7426188575523376862011-02-19T10:15:54.773+11:002011-02-19T10:15:54.773+11:00I'd countenance it. They interrupted Terence Davies' Distant Voices, Still Lives with an advertisement for one of those adult American frat-boy comedies about men burping and falling in ponds. I was ready to scrawl the word PHILISTINES in blood across a copy of the latest TV listings and piff it through their window.Umbagollahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14556344092820711893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424364424049242300.post-58816336795626798602011-02-18T14:25:47.510+11:002011-02-18T14:25:47.510+11:00You wouldn't be prepared to countenance the id...You wouldn't be prepared to countenance the idea that a horror movie interrupted every fifteen minutes with fast cars and peanut butter is a new horror art form - horror intercut with other horror?
Great revelation - R Downey Jr-P.O'Toole.
'"Kinda gaudy, isn't it," says an aloof bombshell to Paul Muni, looking at the gilt and plush in his new apartment, and Muni replies proudly, "Ain't it though!" as if he has personally invented sunshine' - love it.zmkchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08972549292961948240noreply@blogger.com
